In the year 2000 a collection of Kelly articles was published in the book Paradise Divided assessing the early years of the Howard Government, the impact of globalisation on Australia in its empowering and mesmerising dimensions, the signs of new schisms in society and culture and the experiences of Bill Clinton in the US and Tony Blair in the UK in shaping more centrist policies for the centre-left in what many called The Third Way.
